Boutique five-roomed riad with plunge pool
ABOUT: Located in the medina's desirable antique quarter (Dar el Bacha) – five minutes from the souks, and ten from the focal Djemaa-el-Fna square – this boutique riad boasts a friendly staff, talented British owners and plenty of character. It’s possible to book the entire hotel for up to 11 people.
ROOMS: All five beautifully-fitted, cosy bedrooms occupy the same price category, all are available as double or twin, and all have en-suite shower rooms, hand-carved queen-size beds, satellite TVs, air-conditioning, iPod docks, minibars and hair-dryers. Bougainvillea, Jasmine and Rose are on the ground floor, allowing for easy pool-access, and Jasmine also boasts a blue-tinged bathtub. Slightly larger, Rose can sleep a third person if needed.
FACILITIES: A bijou plunge pool is set within pot plants on the patio, while a traditional ‘bhou’ sitting room, complete with Fes-style zellige tiles and an open fireplace, opens onto the same courtyard from one floor up. Higher still, the roof terrace has a Berber tent, trickling fountain, barbecue, sofa, sun-loungers and, on clear days, sensational Atlas Mountains views. Papillon’s delicious breakfasts can be savoured up here, and so too home-cooked, three-course dinners – order in advance, cost not included. Babysitting and massages are also available on request.
EXTRA INFO: Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Children are welcome, with a cot available for babies. A pay-as-you-go mobile phone is available for contacting the hotel while you explore the city.
The Lawrence of Morocco map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
