Morocco offers incredible opportunities for great family holidays. Children generally find Morocco to be fascinating due to the very different looking people, different architecture and of course when in the cities the totally chaotic feeling of masses of people carrying strange looking objects, animals and even other people on their backs!
Once out of the cities, kids are really in their element with endless space to run around and explore. A stay in the Atlas mountains always tends to please children as the natural beauty, epic scenery and endless wildlife which can easily be watched from all hotels including wonderful bird life, tortoises, harmless large lizards and iguanas and at the right time of year, great fun can be had catching butterflies.
Obviously a trip to the Sahara desert is magical and exciting for any child who will have dreamed of living like a nomad or Lawrence of Arabia for a night under canvas in the huge sand dunes of Merzouga or Erg Chigaga with a trek on a camel (not as comfortable for parents hips as for nimble youngsters!). Trips down to the Sahara desert do require a longer trip of at least 4 nights to break the journey in some key spots to avoid any overly long car trips. For those families who have a child wanting to live the desert camp experience but who do not have the time to venture into Southern Morocco, we have the various perfect alternatives to offer you Lawrence of Arabia within 30 minutes of Marrakech for one night at our Marrakech Luxury Desert Camp.
Then there are 1900km of virtually empty beaches in Morocco. Summer time on the Atlantic coast in either Oualidia, Essaouira, Taghazoute, Agadir and some other lovely ocean spots where children can enjoy warm water, surfing, endless beaches to run on and all in a very safe environment. Parents can sit back and enjoy watching the children make the very most of life with the wonderful backdrop of a stunning lagoon or a peaceful fishing village to feel relax into.
Of course, multi centre is the way to go in most cases as Morocco has so much contrast to offer and it would be a real shame not to give the kids some of that colour and contrast.
