A 20-room hotel in the Palmeraie, renovated by designer Lazaro Rosa Violan
ABOUT: Situated in Marrakech’s refined Palmeraie area, the Palais de l’O provides a perfect sanctuary for relaxation and battery recharging. A piffling 15-minute drive from the central Jemaa-el-Fna square, this is a place of shady palm trees, heated pools, cushioned crannies, massage and fine foods: a stylish ‘Arabian-Nights-meets-French-chic’ bolthole adept at soothing the sorest souls. It was renovated in 2011 by renowned Spanish designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán.
ROOMS: Pleasingly exclusive, the Palais contains just 11 rooms and nine suites. Suites have private terraces with attractive views of either the gardens or the distant Atlas Mountains, while some of the rooms are located in two-bedroomed pavilions which can be combined into family villas. All quarters have Wi-Fi and private en suite bathrooms (often with bathtubs).
FACILITIES: The hotel has a central atrium lounge and dining area with the pools—a huge one for adults, a smaller one for children—and fountain-speckled gardens beyond. At the end of the gardens awaits the subterranean O Spa, with a heated plunge pool, Jacuzzi, hammam, sauna and treatment rooms for restorative rituals; past that is a working garden used to support the O Restaurant’s top-notch regional specialities (often with subtle European twists).
EXTRA INFO: Upon request and weather-allowing, meals can also be taken out in the garden, under starry, romantic skies.
The Lawrence of Morocco map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
